Global Hallyu media startup KStarLive had a major update and launched its website.

KStarLive announced on the 18th that it changed its service name from KStarLive to GStarLive and launched it with major updates. The updates were aimed at KStarLive’s website renewal and focused on strengthening media capabilities specializing in the Hallyu by diversifying contents through the expansion of the Hallyu category and improving the previously complex blockchain reward structure.

According to the ‘2020 Global Hallyu Status’ published by the Korea Foundation, the number of Hallyu club members from all over the world (98 countries) last year was 14.77 million, an increase of about 5.45 million compared to the previous year. For the first time in history, the number of Hallyu fans exceeded 100 million. By 2024, the number of Hallyu fans is estimated to exceed 200 million.

It has been a long time since Hallyu stars have established themselves as global stars, and it has been a long time since the overall Korean life culture, including Korean food, fashion, and culture, has been incorporated into global culture. Since 2016, KStarLive has been the fastest channel that delivers news of Korean stars to overseas fans, and it is known as a K-pop information hub with high credibility. Now the subscribers exceed 9.4 million on Facebook alone.

GstarLive, which starts under a new name with the updated website after 7 years of operation, plans to expand its content and category to various global contents such as K-Drama, K-Beauty, and K-Culture for the further expansion of Hallyu. In addition to the updates, various events will be held to reward active users with KSC.

Nathan Yu, CSO of KStarLive, said, “KStarLive, which has been delivering the news of Hallyu stars for the past 7 years, has completed preparations for its second leap forward. As it is rebranded into GStarLive this time, we plan to develop and provide content that introduces new and colorful Korean culture.” He continued, “Now, beyond K-pop, even K-life, thanks to ‘squid game’, which has been a big issue, is spreading into mainstream culture enjoyed by people all over the world. GStarLive will also take the lead in expanding the realm of Hallyu into Korean culture through these updates.”
